NecroSwarm Concept Audio
A downloadable Audio Design
Inspired by the game concept of NecroSwarm, these audio pieces represent what the game might sound like if it has a pixelated, skeleton theme.
- The Theme
The song I created is intended to play on loop, like a song would on an opening title screen or while the player is in the midst of battle. It features a harpsichord (to represent the skellies), some cellos (to represent the dark magic), a couple of violas, and a crash cymbal. My objective was to make a song that was sinister but playful, and maybe just a bit catchy.
- Call of the Swarm
When directing their armies, the player will likely have to select their troops. Just as is the case in Starcraft II and other RTS games, I wanted to create a short SFX that indicates the units have been selected and makes it seem that they are communicating with the player. The cacophony of voices is expected to grow as the Swarm gets larger, the overlapping voices enveloping the scene, much like the physical skeleton bodies will as they overwhelm the enemy.
- Building an Army
Finally, who doesn't love the clickety-clacking of some bones? This sound is intended to play when a skeleton unit is being constructed. This would likely include variants later, both to give the SFX variety and to represent the destruction of skeleton units as well. (The audio is a little soft for this one, and I have no clue why, so don't be afraid to turn it up!)
I hope you enjoy my music and my SFX! This was my first time making sound effects, so thank you IGA for the inspiration and the encouragement to try!
